There were two kinds of jazz on display at this gig - one that comes from a young person who has just finished a crash course at a quality tertiary institution, and the other that comes from four people who have lived the history of jazz. Both came together beautifully, as this quintet played a selection of numbers from Duke Ellington and Cole Porter plus other standards of that era. Marée Steinway's playing and singing were a real highlight of the evening.
