This trio was something different, which I enjoyed more on the second hearing. The steel pan was an unusual instrument for jazz, and I thought it dominated a bit much in their first gig, but it blended in better in the second. Aron has a lot of chops, and his rapid-fire, rythmic playing eventually won me over. I'd not sure that he was the best choice to close out the festival, as the admittedly appreciative audience wasn't all that large. They could have been better scheduled.
